About CAM 2009...

A word from the CAM 2009 Organizing Committee

A YEAR and a half ago, we were in the process of organizing some local magic events, and had started to think that maybe, one day, we could bring a full scale convention back to Montreal. So when Joan Cesar asked us if we would be interested in organising a national convention in our hometown, we were thrilled! We quickly started putting together ideas and proposals for our upcoming meeting with Joan and Nick Sacco. Considering that Joan had run four extremely successful CAMaraderie conventions, we knew we had to come up with some great new ideas. We're very grateful that she has decided to entrust us with the 2009 convention, and hope we live up to everyone's expectations. We'd also like to thank Joan and Nick for all the advice along the way.

AFTER checking with nearly every theatre and hotel in the Montreal area, we've found what we believe is the perfect location for CAMaraderie 2009. The modern, eco-friendly ALT hotel will be the main venue for the convention, and we have booked the beautiful Etoile theatre for both the stage competition and Sunday's gala show. With restaurants, shops and a movie theatre all in walking distance, you won't have to leave for the whole 3 days. Of course, part of the allure of a convention in Montreal is the city, and fortunately the downtown is only a 15 minute drive away. You can read more about the venue in the Location section of the site.

CONSIDERING the stellar 2007 line-up, we were anxious to find talent who could live up to such a high standard. We've managed to book what we think is a great group of magicians - the type of performers you watch and you remember why you wanted to perform magic in the first place. With such varied artists as Eric DeCamps, Nathan Kranzo, David Acer, and Arthur Trace we're sure you'll find something that will catch your interest. Of course there are many more, and you can find out all about them on the Program page.

NOW all that's left are the details! We're working very hard to make sure every little thing is taken care of, so that when you arrive all you have to do is sit back and enjoy (and session of course!). We have many surprises waiting for you, some of which will be revealed as we get closer to the convention, some of which you won't know about until next June. From the competition, to the convention packages, to the awards banquet, gala show and late night events, we want to make sure that everything about the first CAMaraderie in Montreal makes it one that you'll never forget!

REMEMBER, there are only 250 spots, so make sure you register soon. There's also a special deal for CAM members, so check out the organization's site to see what it's all about.

SEE YOU IN 2009!
