Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Quartier DIX30 exactly?
See the Location section of this site
for more information.
Since the convention is held in Quebec, will people
speak French? Will the lectures and shows be presented in a language
that most of us can't understand?
Of course, many people in Quebec speak French. However, most
people in the Montreal area are bilingual. You'll find that most
hotel, restaurant and shops will offer you service in English.
As for the convention is concerned, it will be mostly in English.
Joan Caesar, the president of CAM, always wanted the association to
be fully bilingual. We'll simply try(...see e-mail).
Why is the convention limited to 250 people?
After talking to CAM president, Joan Caesar, we were advised to
consider the financial risks when planning such an event. We looked
at many venues and reviewed different options and considered the
attendance of previous CAM conventions. We finally decided that 250
people is the right number and would provide enough people to create
a great atmosphere and ensure enough customers for our dealers. 250
people is also the amount of people that will fit into the main room
that will be used for lectures and certain events.
It seems that the 129$ price tag for the room at the
ALT Hotel is not really a rebate.
While 129$ is the current rate for the rooms at the ALT Hotel, the
rate for their regular customers will soon be going up. For
CAMaraderie attendees however, this rate is frozen. In addition, this
rate is very reasonable compared to other quality hotels in the
Montreal area.
Why is the convention held from Friday to Sunday
compared to previous CAM conventions that were held from Thursday to
Saturday?
This has been one of the hard decisions to make. Since the
convention targets both amateur and professional magicians, we
decided that it would be easier to shift the majority of the
activities to the weekend. We hope that this will be more convenient
for everyone.
